Jessica and her husband, Matt (SMFHS class of ’99), have lived in Stow since 2011. They have two children. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family, crocheting, and reading.

Jessica is an attorney who has spent her entire legal career working in the court system.  She is a graduate of all public institutions, having attended Cuyahoga Falls City Schools, Michigan State University, and the University of Akron School of Law. After completing her undergraduate degree in social relations, Jessica returned to Ohio to serve as an AmeriCorps member with the Red Cross serving Summit and Portage Counties. Then, after completing law school, Jessica began her legal career working as a law clerk in the Akron Municipal Court. She later served as a judicial attorney and bailiff in that court. After leaving the municipal court, Jessica continued her legal career as a judicial attorney at the Ohio Ninth District Court of Appeals, and most recently, as a judicial attorney for the Summit County Domestic Relations Court.

My wife Lisa and I have lived in Stow for seven years and have five school-age children attending public school. I am a practicing attorney licensed in three states.

I’m a 1996 graduate of Girard City Schools. I graduated with a BA in Political Science from the University of Mount Union in 2000 and the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2003.

I spent my formative years in the band, learning to play multiple musical instruments. I helped edit and fund-raise for my school yearbook. I played varsity baseball. My college scholarships came largely because I was well-rounded, and not just because of my GPA or class rank. As a board member, I want Stow's kids to have an experience like I did, where they can participate in as many clubs, activities and sports as they can handle. Additionally, I want to make sure our students are being properly prepared for both college and careers upon graduation.

I look forward to assisting in the ongoing process of restoring transparency, credibility and professionalism to the management of our school system.

I have been a resident of Stow for 27 years.  Currently, my focus is to support teachers, parents, and students throughout the United States and to serve as a Professional Development Coordinator for Ohio.

My education includes a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Science Education and a Master’s in Education from Kent State University. I worked in the field of education for more than 30 years as a teacher, coach and university associate.

I am passionate about creating an environment in which students can thrive and grow into confident adults.

I look forward to working hard to ensure that every student in the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District continues to receive an excellent education that prepares them for the future.

My husband, Don, and I have lived in Stow since May of 1969, happily raising our three children here. I am proud to say that all three of them are graduates of our school system and are doing well in their professions. I am a former employee of the Stow-Munroe Falls district, serving in our district for 34 years with my last assignment as Central Kitchen food manager at the high school. Upon retirement I took a deeper interest as a taxpayer in our schools and decided to run for the school board.

I will continue to question and reasearch issues, voting for what seems best for the students, staff, and community. Integrity and responsibility are very important to me and I will continue to bring these qualities forward in my term as a BOE member.

NANCY BROWN

Current Term Expires January 1, 2024

My goal as a member of the Board of Education is to strengthen the relationship between the school and our community. I enjoy hearing from parents and other community members, even when what they have to say is hard to hear. I am committed to listening to and considering all points of view. Whether or not we agree, we must all treat each other – and each other’s opinions – with respect.

I have lived in Stow for 30 years and both of my sons are K-12 graduates of Stow-Munroe Falls schools.  I was an active parent in the classroom and especially as a “band mom.” I currently serve on Legislative Affairs, the Safety Committee, the Master Facilities Planning Committee, and the Community DEI Committee.

In my day job, I am the Admissions and Marketing Coordinator at The Arbors at Stow, a long-term care facility for adults with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Previously I owned and operated Double Dog Day Care in Stow for 10 years and ran my own PR consulting firm where my client list included "A Christmas Story" House & Museum, GroundWorks DanceTheater, and several Cleveland restaurants.  I grew up in Washington Court House, Ohio, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Otterbein College and a Master's degree in Journalism and Communications from Point Park University.  I am a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church and chair the Endowment Committee and President of the Board of Lutheran Campus Ministries in Kent.
